The Middle ColoniesThe Middle Colonies were also located on the eastern side of United States. They were composed of Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, and New Jersey.
The Middle Colonies had fertile soil and land that was good for farming and mild climate with warm summers and mild winters. They also had natural resources like timber, furs and coal. Iron ore was a especially important natural resource. The industries included the production of iron ore, lumber, textiles, furs and shipbuilding. Flour and some of the iron ore products were exported to England. The Middle Colonies produced a lot of food like corn and wheat and livestock including beef and pork. For this reason, the Middle Colonies were often called the bread basket colonies. Some Middle Colonies towns were Philadelphia, Albany, and Wilmington. One of the landforms was the Appalachian Mountains. |
